23rd Annual Hollywood Film Awards Kicks Off Awards Season
Tonight, the 23rd Annual “Hollywood Film Awards” brought together Hollywood's elite to honor the year's most talked about and highly anticipated actors, actresses and films, and those who helped bring them to life. The awards ceremony, celebrating its 23rd anniversary as the official launch of the awards season, was hosted by actor and comedian Rob Riggle, and took place at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills. In its 23-year history, over 340 of the world's biggest stars and filmmakers have been highlighted at the “Hollywood Film Awards” and more than 140 of the honorees have gone on to garner Oscar nominations and/or wins.

The Personal History of David Copperfield leads the list of nominations for the 2019 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), announced this morning by British actors Naomi Ackie and Joe Cole at the Regent Street Cinema. Armando Iannucci's fresh take on Dickens' novel about the ups and downs in the life of its eponymous character is recognised for Best British Independent Film and Best Screenplay sponsored by BBC Films, amongst nine other awards. Dev Patel is nominated for Best Actor, with co-stars Tilda Swinton and Hugh Laurie competing in the respective Supporting categories. In anticipation of the September 2019 release of the Downton Abbey feature film, DOWNTON ABBEY LIVE! is a celebration of all aspects of the wildly successful British drama a?" the stellar cast, superb writing, spectacular locations and dazzling costumes. Broadcast from New York City before a live studio audience, scheduled participants include cast members Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith), Phyllis Logan (Mrs. Hughes), Lesley Nicol (Mrs. Patmore), Kevin Doyle (Molesley), Harry Hadden-Paton (Bertie), and Michael C. Fox (Andrew Parker) with executive producers Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge. Composer John Lunn will also be live in the New York studio, performing piano arrangements of his evocative themes from the series. Hillbarn Theatre Closes Out 2017-18 Season with SISTER ACT
Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, closes out its 2016-17 season with the Peninsula premiere of the five-time Tony Award-nominated musical smash, Sister Act. Based on the hit 1992 film of the same name, this feel-good musical comedy centers around wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier who, after witnessing a crime, is put into witness protection in the least likely of places-a convent. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Featuring original music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, School of Rock, Love Never Dies), this uplifting musical is filled with powerful gospel music, outrageous dancing and a truly moving story about the universal power of friendship.
