?Allyson Green, dean of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, has announced that noted philanthropist, businesswoman, and Tisch Dean's Council member Iris Cantor is giving $10 million to support the construction of NYU's first professional proscenium theater.  The performance space - part of a planned multi-use building on Bleecker St., due to break ground next year - will be named the Iris Cantor Theater.

Oliver Stone Attends NYU's Tisch School of the Arts' Annual Benefit Gala

Speaking at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts annual benefit gala last night at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles, Academy Award-winning director, producer and screenwriter Oliver Stone recalled his days at the iconic arts school, which he attended in the years after his return from Vietnam. "I entered back into civilization at Tisch," he said. "New York was the right place at the right time. It's been my orphan home." Mr. Stone was honored last night by NYU's Tisch School of the Arts for Outstanding Achievement in the Cinematic Arts. Tony and Grammy-award winning actor Steve Kazee (Once) and Grey's Anatomy's Chandra Wilson co-hosted the benefit gala, where over $1 million was raised for the school. The evening's entertainment included a stirring rendition of the Oscar-winning "Falling Slowly" by Kazee, as well as a series of musical performances by current Tisch students. Oliver Stone was honored at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts annual benefit gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles.
