Mary E. Hodges (Actor/Director)
Recently performed in the All-Female OTHELLO, starring Debra Ann Byrd and Mary Chieffo as Othello and Iago this last November in Harlem. Directed by Tony Award Winner Trezana Beverley, Hodges played the role of Lt. Cassio. Also with Harlem Shakespeare Festival, Mary was in a concert reading of an All Female Julius Caesar as part of the new BOLD NEW VOICES initiative: MIST Harlem/Voza Rivers/New Heritage Theatre Group; the cast featured Trezana Beverley and Michele Shay. Other work with HSF: Hamlet (Ophelia); King Lear (The Fool). Also in New York, Mary has worked with Gideon Productions, Judith Shakespeare Company, The Lark, National Black Theatre, Target Margin, to list some. Regionally: Long Wharf Theatre, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, The Berkshire Theatre Festival, Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Mary appeared in Season 17 of Law & Order: SVU as Judge Anita Wright, in the episode titled "Maternal Instincts". As a director, Mary recently directed Michael Bradford's New York Premiere of "Fathers and Sons" at The Davenport Theatre, produced by The Negro Ensemble Company. She staged Cheryl Davis' play "Carefully Taught" for the Astoria Performing Arts Center Midwinter Reading Series. She has directed in numerous Estrogenius Festivals and too many staged readings to count.

The League Of Professional Theatre Women Awarded Receives NYSCA Grant

The League of Professional Theatre Women (Mary E. Hodges and Katrin Hilbe, Co-Presidents), announced today a grant award totaling $59,500 from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) to support the recovery of the nonprofit arts and culture sector. Following New York State's $105 million investment in the arts for FY2022, NYSCA has awarded more than $80 million since June 2021.
