BIO

Over a career of more than forty years, Mary Ann Thebus has created dozens of roles for theaters around the country and on film, and has appeared with virtually every major Chicago company, including Goodman, Steppenwolf, Chicago Shakespeare, and The Gift, where she is a company member. The recipient of numerous Jeff Award nominations, she is also a highly respected teacher (primarily through her long association with The Artistic Home) and acting coach, whose former students are now among the leading players of Chicago's Equity and non-Equity communities.

The Gift Theatre is pleased to launch its 18th season with a revival of John Patrick Shanley's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning drama DOUBT: A PARABLE, presented as a part of Steppenwolf's LookOut Series. Directed by Ensemble Member John Gawlik and featuring an all-ensemble cast, DOUBT will play February 27 - March 31, 2019 at Steppenwolf's 1700 Theatre, 1700 N. Halsted St. in Chicago.

Steppenwolf's LookOut Series has announced their Winter 2018-2019 lineup, giving audiences plenty of reasons to escape the cold with performances from hot, new acts and the return of LookOut favorites. During last night's Season Release Bash at Old Irving Brewery Co., artistic director and co-founder Michael Patrick Thornton proudly announced The Gift Theatre's 2018 season will include: Stacy Amma Osei-Kuffour's world premiere of Hang Man, directed by ensemble member Erica Weiss (February 9-April 8); Shakespeare's Hamlet, directed by Monty Cole (June 1-July 29); and the Midwest premiere of Tony Award-winning playwright and ensemble member David Rabe's Cosmologies, directed by Thornton (October 12-December 9).

Conceived in 1997 by Michael Patrick Thornton and William Nedved, The Gift's mission was to grow and nurture an ensemble while laying roots in an artistically underserved Chicago neighborhood. Today, The Gift Theatre thrives in Jefferson Park as Chicago's most intimate Equity theater and is home to a nationally respected acting ensemble.
Route 66 Presents LAST AUTUMN, 1/9

Route 66 will feature members of the cast of ELIZABETH REX, the critically acclaimed hit show now playing at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Erica Weiss, who served as Assistant Director on ELIZABETH REX, Brenda Barrie, Matt Farabee, and Mary Ann Thebus will take the 'stage' at Mrs Murphy's and Sons Irish Bistro for a reading of a new play by Adam Simon.
