Martin Rojas Dietrich

MARTIN ROJAS-DIETRICH was born in Lima, Peru and has called the Bay Area his home for the past twenty years. Martin divides his time between performing in plays, musicals, opera and in concert.

Regional Theatre credits include: The Padre in Man of La Mancha (SF Playhouse) for which he received a 2007 Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award Nomination for Outstanding Performance, Professor Sweeney in Jules Feiffer’s political satire The White House Murder Case and Officer Barrel in Urinetown, The Musical (both for San Jose Stage Company), Cinderella’s Father in Into The Woods (2005 BATCC’s Best Musical) and Dr. Sigmoid/Uncle Victor understudy in the West Coast premiere of Joseph Thalken & Tom Jones’ Harold & Maude: An Intimate Musical (both for TheatreWorks).

Other favorite stage credits include: John Styx in Orpheus in the Underworld (NDNU/Pocket Opera), Roscoe in Follies In Concert (NDNU/Ralston Performer Series), Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden (Coastal Repertory Theatre), Herr Schultz in Cabaret (Broadway By The Bay & CRT), The World Goes ‘Round (Bus Barn Stage Company), Moonface Martin in Anything Goes (2001 BATTC’s Best Musical) and King Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar (both for BBBAY), Mr. Bumble in Oliver! (San Carlos Children’s Theatre), Maggs in Tom Stoppard’s Hapgood (Menlo Players Guild) and The Beadle in Sweeney Todd (Foothill Music Theatre) for which he received a Dean Goodman Choice Award for Supporting Performance.

Martin received his theatre training at Cañada College where he had the honor of studying and ultimately working with legendary Bay Area actress & director Linda Hoy. Martin spent the past two summers as part of the faculty in Hillbarn Theatre’s Summerstage Conservatory. He has just concluded a sold-out 13 week run of the musical Cabaret for SF Playhouse where he served as musical director and performed the role of Max. Martin is also a resident pianist at Max’s Opera Café in Palo Alto where he performs on Sunday evenings.

Martin is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, the professional union for actors and stage managers in the United States.
