Front Porch Theatricals Closes 2024 Season with BANDSTAND
Front Porch Theatricals (FPT) has announced the final show of their 2024 season. From August 16 - 25 the company will present the Pittsburgh premiere of Bandstand, an unflinching and honest story about confronting the cost of war and finding salvation in the notes of a song
Review: FRONT PORCH CABARET Reunites Old Friends at Front Porch Theatricals
Front Porch announces a season of Finn and Sondheim, in an evening of song and stories. As far as I'm concerned, if you want to measure the pulse of the Pittsburgh theatre scene, you will feel it the most intensely and regionally in Front Porch. The company's mission to produce exciting musicals specifically highlighting the talents of Pittsburgh-area artists makes it feel somehow organically part of the community; much as I love seeing the talents of major Broadway stars at Pittsburgh CLO every years, there's a thrill in seeing a Front Porch show and knowing 'all of this was made here.' Though Front Porch's impresario and producer Leon S. Zionts passed away several years ago, he has remained an active member of its creative community, as the shortlist of shows he crafted with fellow producers Bruce E. G. Smith and Nancy D. Zionts continues to guide the company's mission statement forward.

Pieffer, and music by Becki Toth and Brad Kemp, Abduction tells the story of high school senior and student body president Pippa Peterson who's social footing crumbles after she witnesses an alien abduction in her tiny suburban town of Pluto.
BWW Review: FUN HOME Serves as a Beacon, Outlet, Refuge
Every family has its secrets, its lies, its loves. In the Bechdel's home, secrets of sexuality and queerness transcended a generation but could never be discussed. Welcome to Fun Home, a look inside the family life of Alison Bechdel, a lesbian cartoonist whose gay father operated a funeral home and taught English in their small Pennsylvanian town before committing suicide soon after learning of his daughter's sexual orientation. (Try advertising that on a radio spot!)
BWW Review: BRIGHT STAR Illuminates Front Porch Theatricals' Season
The southern charm of a North Carolina summer would only be complete with banjo music echoing through the peaks and valleys of the expansive Appalachian Mountains. In the year 1923, in the town of Zebulon, somewhere twixt the Atlantic coast and the Great Smoky Mountains, young love finds Alice Murphy (Erin Lindsey Krom) and Jimmy Ray Dobbs (Jerreme Rodriguez). Intimacy leads to divisions within the families, stories and decades are crossed and intertwined, and the stage for Front Porch Theatricals' bluegrass musical Bright Star is set.

This special gift was presented as a surprise to Van Kaplan, accompanied by the 2017 CLOE Award, in honor of his 20th Anniversary as Executive Producer of the organization. The gift ensures Pittsburgh CLO will surpass its $10 million Next Generation Campaign goal.
