Ross Lehman's SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY opens April 26th at Citadel Theatre

Citadel Theatre Company will close its 2018-19 season with the world premiere of a "musical remembrance" written and performed by one of Chicago's best-loved actors, Ross Lehman.
Citadel Theatre Announces 2018-19 Season

Citadel Theatre Company, an Equity-affiliated professional company performing in Lake Forest, IL, has announced its 16thseason. The four-show subscription season will include the Lillian Hellman classic THE LITTLE FOXES, a holiday production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, a contemporary American comedy-drama to be announced, and the world premiere of Ross Lehman's SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY, a one-man musical remembrance about his parents and their WWII era romance.

Casting Announced for VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE at Citadel Theatre

Citadel Theatre's 2016-17 season concludes with Christopher Durang's Tony Award®-winning Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Durang's comedy, an updating and mash-up of characters, plot devices and themes from Chekhov's four major plays, won the Tony for Best Production of a Play in the 2013 Tony Awards. Replacing the traditional Chekhovian country estate is the play's setting in a Bucks County, Pennsylvania farmhouse, complete with a cherry orchard of sorts. Vanya and his adopted sister Sonia, named for characters from Chekhov plays by their late professor parents, are living in the family home now owned by their actress sister Masha, who pays the bills.

Created to showcase and support Chicago's burgeoning field of musical theatre creators, this year's festival will be held August 9 - 28, 2016 at Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago. Each production will receive four performances during the Festival. The full schedule (Tuesdays - Sundays) and can be found at www.cmtf.org, with tickets currently on sale ($20 per show, $200 all-festival rush passes). The press "sneak preview," featuring a sampling of songs from the 2016 Festival, is Monday, August 8 at 7:30 pm.

Drawn from two short stories by the immortal O. Henry, 'The Gift of the Magi' and 'The Cop and the Anthem,' this heart-warming charmer transports the audience to Christmas in New York, 1905 where they not only meet the famed penniless lovers but also a metropolis of people going about their holiday business including "Soapy Smith," a cheerful bum hoping to be arrested so he can spend winter in a warm cell. The Gifts of the Magi is an evening perfect for the whole family celebrating the true meaning of the season.
