Interview: Josh Welsh on BRING THE NOISE: IF THESE WALLS COULD SING at The Wallis
Josh Welsh, President of Film Independent, directly oversees all Film Independent programming, including Bring The Noise: If These Walls Could Sing at The Wallis on May 18. The evening is planned as a celebration of renowned photographer and filmmaker Mary McCartney’s film, If These Walls Could Sing about the many music industry artists who recorded inside Abbey Road Studios in London, which is now streaming on Disney+. The evening at The Wallis will include a live orchestral performance of songs recorded at Abbey Road Studios conducted by Mark Graham, and a Q&A with Mary McCartney moderated by Academy-Award winning filmmaker Morgan Neville.

The National Arts Club will present Nowhere Man, a play about the life of sculptor Isamu Noguchi on Monday, June 21 at 7 PM (ET). Pearl Harbor has been bombed. Hatred and fear of the Japanese is transferred to residents of Japanese heritage in the western United States who are forcibly displaced and incarcerated in internment camps.

“Our focus for our 50th anniversary is playing with tradition, in ways many folks in the community may not be fully aware of,” says Sharon Dolan, Freight & Salvage's Executive Director. “We've always been heavily identified with old time, bluegrass, and folk music, but we've been on a journey to expand traditional music, both geographically and style-wise. Instead of trying to pin down a definition of traditional music, we want to make it a conversation, one that's ever changing and evolving.”
