BIO
Mark William Blowers was born and raised in Toledo, OH. His loving parents William and Teresa nurtured and encouraged a love of music, theatre, and dance from a very early age (Mark’s first solo performance was “Jesus Loves Me” at age five!)
Having done a few shows in grade school, Mark chose to attend St. Francis de Sales High School, which has a reputation for producing excellent musicals. Here and at Notre Dame and St. Ursula Academies, Mark had wonderful performance opportunities, playing roles in nine different shows throughout his high school career.
In choosing a college, Mark wanted to stay somewhat close to home, but still be “away” at school and get a quality education, so he chose to attend Ohio Northern University, majoring in music education (Vocal and Trumpet) and minoring in dance. By the end of his freshman year, Mark realized that he loved to play the trumpet, but much preferred teaching choral music. He also discovered that he really loved all the theatre he had been doing, so he decided to pursue this passion by adding a musical theatre major. Over the next three and a half years, Mark’s love for and dedication to theatre grew through his education, shows performed at school, professionals with whom he had the opportunity to work, and summerstock experiences in Ohio, New Hampshire, and New York.
The defining moment of Mark’s decision between teaching and pursuing a career in theatre was the American Theatre Wing’s Springboard NYC program. This amazing two-week intensive allowed Mark to be completely immersed in the New York City theatre world and confirmed what he had long thought in his heart. THIS was where he needed to be. Mark now resides in New York City and is pursuing his dreams.
