On Monday night, March 20, Theatre Development Fund (TDF) presented the first of two evenings entitled PERFORMETERIA. PERFORMETERIA is TDF's first-ever immersive festival featured works from some of the most innovative Off-Off Broadway theatre and dance companies in New York City through its OffOff@$9 Program. Co-presented with Baruch PAC, over 500 PERFORMETERIA attendees travelled through multiple levels of theatres, nooks, and hidden venues to experience short original pieces by the participating companies. TDF Stages Launches MEET THE DANCE COMPANY Film Series

TDF Stages, Theatre Development Fund's online magazine, with features that focus on the process of making theatre from the artist's point of view, has just added to its dance coverage. Today, TDF Stages has launched a new short documentary film series, MEET THE DANCE COMPANY.  The first company bring profiled is Sidra Bell Dance New York. Upcoming films will highlight Kyle Abraham/Abraham.In.Motion, Dorrance Dance and Big Dance Theater. These short films are generally four minutes in length.

This modern tale explores West African Yoruba myth in a striking production that engages the audience as witness and judge. This drama contains strong language and mature subject matter as well as flights of poetry, music and dance in an exploration of freedom and the need to belong.

TDF Theatre Dictionary to Collaborate with Off-Off-Broadway Theatre Companies

In celebration of the beginning of the third year of TDF's fun and informative online Theatre Dictionary (www.theatredictionary.org), the not-for-profit service organization has commissioned four off-Off Broadway theatre companies (Clubbed Thumb, New York Neo-Futurists, the PIT, and F*It Club) to collaborate with TDF to create a series of humorous and inventive Theatre Dictionary videos. Three of these new videos are being premiered today, with three additional videos to be released each month over the next several months.
Theatre Development Fund's Online Theatre Dictionary Celebrates One-Year Anniversary

Theatre Development Fund's (TDF) fun and informative online theatre dictionary, at www.theatredictionary.org, is celebrating the year anniversary of its launch. During this first year the number of theatre terms more than doubled - from 20 to 43, all featuring unique videos as well as written definitions. To mark the occasion, TDF is premiering a new video defining the term 'Commedia dell'arte' starring RuPaul's Drag Race 5th Season winner JINKX MONSOON and MAJOR SCALES, her co-star in the hit NYC Stage production The Vaudevillians (currently at the Laurie Beechman Theatre through November 11).
New Georges Announces THE AUDREY RESIDENCIES for 2013-14

At a benefit event held for New Georges on Sunday, September 22, Producing Artistic Director Susan Bernfield and board member Michael Osso announced a new program at New Georges, The Audrey Residencies, and the artists and projects chosen for 2013-14, the program's inaugural year. Sunday's event also featured the premiere showing of a video about New Georges produced by tdf for tdfSTAGES' Meet the Theatre series and directed by Mark Blankenship, tdf's online content editor, to be released in early November.
Theatre Development Fund Receives $78,750 Grant from Doris Duke Charitable Foundation

Theatre Development Fund (TDF) and Theatre Bay Area (TBA) are pleased to announce that they have received a grant in the amount of $78,750 from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation's Fund for National Projects to support a consortium project, Triple Play. Triple Play will explore the crucial relationship between playwrights and other generative artists, theatres and audiences. This exploration aspires to create a paradigm shift in the way the field thinks about audiences and the way audiences experience new work, and in so doing will help to restore theatre's relevance as a national art form.
