BWW Review: MADDIE'S KARAOKE BIRTHDAY PARTY at the Toronto Fringe Festival is a Party Not to be Missed!
If you are looking for an original musical to see at the Toronto Fringe Festival, look no further than MADDIE'S KARAOKE BIRTHDAY PARTY over at the Monarch Tavern. Written by Barbara Johnston and Suzy Wilde, and Directed by Byron Laviolette, this semi-immersive musical is clever and funny, and the performances are excellent. One might think based on the title that the performers would be singing popular karaoke songs, but in fact, everything is original music (either that, or I'm just really out of the loop on what music is popular with the kids these days!) Between the bountiful balloons, packed house, and pumping music, this really does feel like a party! The story also provides a touching display of the good the bad, the ugly…and the beautiful, of millennial friendships. This one shouldn't be missed!

BWW Review: CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL Doesn't 'Meat' My Expectations
If you bill a show as 'From the co-creator of South Park and The Book of Mormon' you're going to set the expectations pretty high. Cannibal! The Musical opened last night in Toronto, and as much as I really wanted to like it - it came across rather flat, even in the intimate Panasonic Theatre.
Liam Tobin & Elicia MacKenzie to Star in CANNIBAL! THE MUSICAL at Panasonic Theatre
Starvox Entertainment today announced casting details for Trey Parker's Cannibal! The Musical on stage at David Mirvish's Panasonic Theatre (651 Yonge St.) from Feb. 10 to Mar. 8, 2015. The highly anticipated new production tells the hilarious, and (mostly) true story of Alferd Packer, the only person ever convicted of cannibalism in America. Based on Parker's fan-favourite film of the same name, Cannibal! The Musical will premiere a brand new production featuring new songs, new jokes, and an all-Canadian cast led by Liam Tobin as Packer (Shrek the Musical, MTC's Next to Normal) and Elicia MacKenzie (The Sound of Music; winner of CBC's How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?) as Polly Pry, Packer's unexpected love interest.
