The Old Globe has announced the four-member cohort for the 2023 Classical Directing Fellowship, a program of the Karen and Stuart Tanz Fellowships at The Old Globe, led by the Globe's Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, a leading Shakespearean teacher, author, podcast host, and director.
San Diego Theater Leaders Formally Join Together as Theatre Alliance
The San Diego Tribune has reported that a group of local theater leaders who had been meeting weekly on Zoom to share ideas about getting through the pandemic, has now been formally made into a permanent organization entitled The Theatre Alliance, under the umbrella of the San Diego Performing Arts League.
The Old Globe Announces Lineup For George L. Stevens Senior Center's Annual Juneteenth Celebration
For the third consecutive year, The Old Globe will participate in the George L. Stevens Senior Center's annual Juneteenth Celebration by presenting an original work developed through The Old Globe's arts engagement program coLAB: The Ruby in Us, with book and music written by Karen Ann Daniels, Director of the Mobile Unit at New York's Public Theater. Music for the piece was composed by Brandon Cerquedo, and language for the performance was collaboratively evolved in a workshop setting at the Center with the senior community that hosts the annual celebration. Award-winning director Delicia Turner Sonnenberg (Skeleton Crew at the Globe, Globe Classical Directing Fellow) returns to helm this wonderful program alongside lauded jazz musician, musical theatre favorite, and The Ruby in Us music director Leonard Patton.
Bethany Marie Franklin Releases 'Abandoned, Abused and Forgotten'
'Abandoned, Abused and Forgotten': an autobiographical memoir of a little girl who rises above the devastation of betrayal of all who should have loved and protected her and grows into a woman of deep and abiding faith in God. 'Abandoned, Abused and Forgotten' is the creation of published author Bethany Marie Franklin, now an ordained minister who has committed her life to living Christ's message by providing humanitarian aid to people in need around the world. She continues to practice her faith in all aspects of her life.
