NY Queer Tango Festival Returns
The fourth edition of New York Queer Tango Weekend, NYQTW, will offer an opportunity to the international Queer Tango community to convene in New York City, September 27-30, to hone their craft at workshops and master classes taught by the leading tango teachers, explore the endless variety of tango at milongas - tango social parties - and mix and mingle with the New York tango community.
GlamourTango Comes to Aaron Davis Hall
The passion and elegance of tango will take center stage at Aaron Davis Hall as City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) presents Polly Ferman's GlamourTango - A Celebration of Women in Tango on Thursday, March 29. Created and produced by Ferman, GlamourTango features an all-female cast of dancers, musicians and singers who come together to entertain audiences and bring to light the overlooked role of women in helping to shape this beloved musical and dance genre. The group will give two special Women's History Month performances at noon and 7 p.m.

The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant is Third Space's latest remix smash-up of theatrical form and style. When a new model, Karin, enters the home of famous fashion designer Petra von Kant, Petra's world-and career-rocket to manic heights. But in the midst of Petra's euphoria, her submissive assistant, Marlene, senses a threat. When Karin becomes a superstar, leaving everything behind, Marlene picks up the broken pieces. What Marlene does with those pieces will dictate the rest of her life. Featuring an all-female cast and directed by Benjamin Viertel, Third Space's The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant delves into the tortured connections between desire and power in an industry driven by consumption.

Uruguayan pianist/producer Polly Ferman is proud to present GlamourTango, a unique all-female multi-media music and dance show that pays tribute to the women who quietly wrote the pages of Tango from the very beginning and, until now, have not been recognized for their contributions to the irresistible art form. The show includes fascinating and rarely seen black and white films from Argentina, recorded in the early forties, featuring female singers and tango dancers. Polly Ferman has created and produced this stylish production of tango music and dance from South America's Rio de la Plata region, performed by an ensemble of musicians, vocalists and dancers who specialize in the art of Tango. Latin American Cultural Week Kicks Off Today at Merkin Concert Hall
For the 10th consecutive year, PAMAR (Pan American Musical Art Research, Inc.), founder/director Polly Ferman, presents LATIN AMERICAN CULTURAL WEEK, including dozens of music, theater, dance, film, visual arts, and educational events that show the richness of Latin American arts and artists, including both area and international artists.
