BIO

Maria Alexandria (Alex) Beech is a US-educated Venezuelan American writer for stage and screen living Los Angeles. Her work has been performed in New York, Colorado, Illinois, California, Massachusetts, South Korea, and Venezuela. Her musicals in development include "Blue Skies" with Christie Baugher and "Bayouland" with Brett Macias. An excerpt of the "Bayouland" will be performed in Tall Tales of El Mexicano Blanco at The Green Room in January 2023. Her musical "Class" with Karl Saint Lucy was a finalist in The Eugene O’Neill Theater Center. On March 20 and 21, vocalists James Jackson, Jr. (A Strange Loop at Playwrights Horizons), Danielle Buonaiuto, and Victoria Huston-Elem will join composer and vocalist Karl Saint Lucy in Orion's Belt: Selections from Different Stars at Pangea. The concert is a 60-minute cut of Saint Lucy's queer song cycle, Different Stars, and marks the first time the songs have been performed together as a set.

10th Annual Mexico/United States Playwright Exchange

The Lark is thrilled to announce the 10 th Anniversary celebration of the Mexico/United States Playwright Exchange. For a full decade, this synergetic program has brought Mexican writers to the U.S. and U.S. writers to Mexico to work together and with a community of bilingual actors and stage directors on translating their plays. The shared artistic process is aimed at creating a deeper understanding between our countries and cultures. From December 4-7, 2016, The Lark will bring together the program's artists and audiences for a festival featuring readings of excerpts from 38 of the plays translated through this program. Events are open to the public and free of charge.
