LA Stage Alliance Announces Search For New Leadership
LA STAGE Alliance (LASA) has announced the departure of Interim Executive Director Marco Gomez. Gomez was both a generous donor and an excellent manager during an important transitional period in the organization's life. Gomez, a real estate developer and longtime theatre producer, also served as co-producer of this year's outstanding Ovation Awards event. His contributions to LASA have been invaluable.
BWW Interview: William A. Reilly Talks About Future Plans for Crown City Theatre
William A. Reilly has been co-producer/ co-artistic director of Crown City Theatre going on 22 years. Crown has been located at St. Matthew's Church in NoHo for almost 12 years. April 1 the company must leave, as St Matthew's has received a grant to make the spaces a homeless shelter. Reilly sat down recently and talked about what the group will do as they look to the future. Close local spaces are being investigated as rentals until a new permanent space is relegated.
LA Stage Alliance Appoints Marco Gomez Interim Executive Director
LA STAGE Alliance (LASA) has announced the appointment of Marco Gomez to the position of Interim Executive Director. Gomez has committed to shepherding the upcoming 29th Annual Ovation Awards ceremony and maintaining the continuity of LASA's major programs during a transition initiated by the departure of Steven Leigh Morris in November. The board's formal search for permanent leadership is slated to begin in the coming weeks. LASA is the primary service organization for the performing arts in Southern California.
NMI Releases A New Interview With Marco Gomez
Another video from the Stages Musical Theatre Festival was just released this week. New Musicals Inc. aired 51 hours of live streamcast footage of musical theatre readings, concerts, creative sessions, as well as interviews with writers and producers, all part of the most recent Stages Musical Theatre Festival. The Festival ran for fifteen years in Chicago before New Musicals Inc. brought it to the West Coast about a decade ago.

Presenters have been announced for the 28th Annual LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards on Monday, January 29, at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Red carpet arrivals will begin at 6pm and the ceremony, hosted by Kirsten Vangsness, is set to begin at 7:30pm.

Greenway Arts Alliance Presents George Orwell's 1984
"War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength." Greenway Arts Alliance Presents: George Orwell's 1984, directed by Kate Jopson as the first production of their novel to stage program Greenway Reads. 300 Fairfax High School students are reading the novel and will attend matinee's of the theatrical production. The adaptation by Alan Lyddiard creates an interactive and engaging experience for audience members. Jopson said, "We're trying to create an immersive experience. The elements of the play and its themes are all around us in the real world. We try to emphasize that and as soon as you arrive at the theater there's not anywhere you're not in the set of 1984, even in the lobby and bathrooms."
