Marc Sambola (He/him) Originally from Barcelona, he is a Spanish composer, guitarist and Music Director who’s lived in a tradition that encompasses Spanish guitar, a flavor of mediterranean sounds and the American modern musical theatre.
Recently, he won the Premis de la Crítica Award for Best Composition for “La Filla del Mar” in 2021. He was also nominated for the Premis Butaca Awards also for “La Filla Del Mar”. He was nominated for Best Musical Director of the Theatre Musical Awards Madrid for “Ojos Verdes”, a musical with a Copla Spanish Music style.
As a composer, some of the shows he wrote are: La Filla del Mar, Les històries Naturals, El Projecte dels Bojos, Tom Sawyer, detective, Artaban, the fourth wise man, Sihir i la nit de Reis, Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Ocaña, Königin der Ramblas for Neuköllner Oper in Berlin. He also wrote the music for the 2019 ceremony of Catalunya Aixeca el Telóat the Gran Teatre del Liceu.
As a guitar player, he was trained in ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and he has taken part in many shows where he has created or arranged music: “Coplas por Ocaña”, “Ojos Verdes”, “Le llaman Copla”, “Punto de Rocío”, “La Filla del Mar”, etc.
Besides all the musicals mentioned before, he has also music directed shows such as: Ojos Verdes, Midsummer, a play with songs, El Musical Participatiu. He is also the artistic director of A Grup Vocal, a vocal group with which he has created many Pop arrangements and the shows: Zenit, Octubre, cançons per la llibertat, Cent anys i un dia, XMAS Rocks!.
