The Jewish Museum to Present Afterlives: Recovering the Lost Stories of Looted Art
The Jewish Museum will present Afterlives: Recovering the Lost Stories of Looted Art, an exhibition that will situate the subject of art looting during World War II within a unique thematic premise, focusing on the seizure and movement of works as they traveled through distribution centers, sites of recovery, and networks of collectors, before, during, and after the war.
Award Winners Announced for 4TH Annual PHILIP K. DICK EUROPEAN SCI-FI Festival
The gathering honored the legacy of novelist Philip K. Dick with over 40 presentations of independent science fiction films, ?seven of which were commended for their advances in cinematic excellence. The festival was held in Cologne, Germany at Filmclub 813 e.V. from October 27-28, 2017 and in Lille, France at L'Hybride from November 2-3, 2017.
FSLC's Film Comment Magazine Announces 2012 'Best of Year' Lists
Film Comment's annual end-of-the-year survey of film critics, journalists, film section editors, and past and present contributors was released today with Leos Carax's HOLY MOTORS, Paul Thomas Anderson's THE MASTER and Wes Andreson's MOONRISE KINGDOM taking the top spots among films released in 2012. Among films that made appearances at film festivals or special screenings worldwide, but haven't been picked up for stateside distribution as of yet, Joachim Lafosse's OUR CHILDREN, Song Fang's MEMORIES LOOK AT ME and Alan Berliner's FIRST COUSIN ONCE REMOVED received the top rankings.
50th NY Film Festival Announces Main Slate Selections
The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today the main slate of selections for the 50th New York Film Festival (September 28-October 14) including such notable directors as Olivier Assayas, Noah Baumbach, Leos Carax, Brian De Palma, Michael Haneke, Abbas Kiarostami, Ang Lee, Cristian Mungiu, Sally Potter, Alain Resnais, Raul Ruiz and Robert Zemeckis.
