A revue is a rare theatrical treat these days. In its heyday, the irresistible combination of light comedy, song and dance sketches was incredibly popular. Its golden age lasted from the early 1920s to the late 1950s and for much of that time its greatest practitioner was Noel Coward who wrote and appeared in a succession of revues on both sides of the Atlantic such as London Calling! (1923) and Sigh No More (1945).

The Shakespeare Revue, a comic concoction of hilarious sketches and show-stopping numbers written by comedy icons Victoria Wood, Alan Bennett, Maureen Lipman, Monty Python, Noel Coward, Cole Porter, Fry & Laurie and musical theatre favourites, Stephen Sondheim, Stiles & Drewe and many more, returns to the stage with a UK tour as part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death.

The production opens at the Devonshire Park Theatre, Eastbourne on Wednesday 3 August 2016 and tours to a further six venues until 26th November 2016, prior to West End. Further dates to be announced.

Iain Mitchell and Gregory Gudgeon Join TRAVELS WITH MY AUNT

On the day that rehearsals commence for its forthcoming production of Travels with My Aunt, the Menier Chocolate Factory is delighted to announce that Iain Mitchell and Gregory Gudgeon will be joining the previously confirmed cast members, David Bamber and Jonathan Hyde. Adapted for the stage by Giles Havergal and directed by Christopher Luscombe, the production has a strictly limited 8 week season, 2nd May to 29th June.
Havers & Quick to Star in Bennett's 'Single Spies' Prior to Tour

Following his record-breaking tour of 'Rebecca', Nigel Havers is to star in a brand new production of Alan Bennett's award-winning comedy Single Spies. Starring alongside Nigel are Diana Quick, Jack Ryder, John Arthur, Thomas Eyre and Clive Flint. Single Spies opens at The Lowry in Salford on Tuesday March 11, prior to a major national tour.
