Flutist Nicole Mitchell Comes to Scheuer Auditorium at the Jewish Museum

Bang on a Can and the Jewish Museum's 2019-2020 concert season continues on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 7:30pm at the Jewish Museum's Scheuer Auditorium (1109 Fifth Avenue at 92nd Street). Flutist Nicole Mitchell's trio Matape, with Val Jeanty and Chad Taylor, creates ancient future soundscapes informed by the African diaspora through flute, Afro-Electronica, and percussion. This season's Bang on a Can performances celebrate the unique power of artist's voices, and Mitchell, emerging from Chicago's innovative music scene in the late 90s, continues that theme. The power of artists voices also resonates with themes in the current exhibition Rachel Feinstein: Maiden, Mother, Crone.

The series, which takes place at Irish Arts Center (553 West 51st Street, New York) on February 23, March 23 and April 27, will feature Tobin and Robson joined by special guests consisting of some of New York's best Irish and international musicians to play sets and share stories about music's greatest artists and treasures.

Elizabeth Mitchell and You Are My Flower is performing a folk rock concert for families on Sunday, April 21 at 2:00 pm at The Jewish Museum. Mitchell, a singer and guitarist known for reinterpreting classic folk songs for children and their parents, will be joined by her husband, singer/guitarist Daniel Littleton, and their eleven year old daughter Storey. Concert attendees can enjoy cherished folk classics and soulful originals from the albums Catch the Moon and Blue Clouds.
