LOUISE EDEIKEN, a singer/actress. Most recently seen on Broadway in Phantom of the Opera, she has created roles on Broadway (Nine), at BAM, the Kennedy Center, Playwrights Horizons, Goodspeed Opera House, and the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center. Louise performed often under Leonard Bernstein’s baton during the last ten years of his life–including the world premiere of Arias and Barcarolles with the composer and Michael Tilson Thomas at the piano, performances and recordings of West Side Story and A Quiet Place, and classical, operatic and theatrical concerts all over the world. Her one-woman show Bernstein - Broadway and Beyond has been performed to international acclaim. At Houston Grand Opera, Ms. Edeiken created the lead role of Alsi in the premier of the Philip Glass-Doris Lessing opera-The Making of the Representatives of Planet 8. Solo concert work includes performances with Maestros Thomas, Seiji Ozawa, Lukas Foss, John Mauceri, and John Williams with such orchestras as the London Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Boston Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. On the opera stage, she has sung at La Scala, Vienna Staatsopera, Academia di Santa Cecilia, and Houston Grand Opera. Now residing in Westchester, Louise directs, and teaches acting and voice to students of all ages. She also teaches quilting, makes jewelryß and volunteers in the perennial gardens at the New York Botanical Garden. She is co-author of Now That You're Pregnant (Macmillan) and is a wife and mother of two boys.
