BIO

Lorinda is an actor, author, advocate, musician, writer, comedian, and award winning filmmaker. Her solo show "Justice? Or...Just Me? The Bite" was awarded the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival Diversity Scholarship for productions with powerful community impact. Her book of the same title was published in summer 2021 and is now available on Amazon and in several libraries. Book 2, "The Fight" (the second book in the "Justice? Or... Just Me?" series) is now available on Amazon. Her short film, "The Virus," has won multiple awards including Best Covid and Best Horror Comedy Film. Her domestic violence PSA spoof, "Domestic Violence: What Is It?" received an honorable mention in the 2022 Green Screen Film Festival. Lorinda was one of Robey Theatre Company's commissioned playwrights for their Commissioned Playwright Project and her play, "Vaccination Elevation," had a stage reading this past July at the Robey Theatre in the historic Los Angeles Theatre Center (LATC). Lorinda is a domestic violence survivor who obtained her Masters in Business Administration while transitioning from houseless to housed. When Lorinda was in DTLA, she ran Open Mic Night DTLA for 4 years for the Skid Row and Loft Dweller communities and planted an Open Mic at Studio 526 (formerly The Lamp). Lorinda produced, "Cries from the Heart," a domestic violence awareness event in October - National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Bringing the Gospel to the Streets in San Julian Park. With the request of a downtown resident, Lorinda reached out to multiple entities inquiring if there was interest in starting a Handel's Messiah Sing-a-long for the Skid Row community. The result being Street Symphony's Messiah Project. Lorinda is honored to portray Bridget "Biddy" Mason in the Los Angeles Public Library's Historical Portrait Project on their video wall. Jean Cocteau's ORPHEE Viewed Through Unique Lens Of Deaf West Theatre

Orpheus, Eurydice, a trouble-making horse and Death herself converge in a very funny and irreverent reimagining of the Greek myth by surrealist poet, playwright and filmmaker Jean Cocteau. Deaf West Theatre views Cocteau's whimsical, magical and highly visual play, first performed in 1926, through a unique lens: translated from the French into Spoken English by John Savacool, into American Sign Language by Andrew Moore, and slated for a run at the True Colors Festival in Tokyo, Japan at the end of April. Deena Selenow directs Orphée in a visiting production at the Odyssey Theatre, opening March 13 for a four-week run through April 5. Three low-priced previews are set for March 8, March 11 and March 12.
