Colourful Live Art Shows Come To Cork For Quarter Block Party
The sixth edition of Quarter Block Party festival, in association with Jameson Irish Whiskey, is gearing up to inject life and colour into Cork city from Thursday 6th to Sunday 9th February 2020. The festival will sprawl through the city's streets and venues with over 50 music, art, and theatre performances. Amble through a weekend wonderland of pop-up shows, public art events, and creative discussion in the shops, venues, and outdoor spaces to discover some of the freshest high-calibre Irish and International artists.
Westport Country Playhouse Sets INTIMATE APPAREL Community Events
Westport Country Playhouse will present a community engagement initiative, 'Threads of Time, Fabric of History: 'Intimate Apparel' in Context,' September 27 through November 1. The series of events, many of which are free-of-charge, will run concurrently with the Playhouse's production of Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage's play, 'Intimate Apparel,' directed by Mary B. Robinson, a love story confronting race and religion. The play won the American Theatre Critics and New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards for Best Play.
Playwrights' Workshop Montréal Presents 50 Years in the Making, 5/6
Playwrights' Workshop Montreal (PWM), Canada's oldest play development centre, will celebrate its 50th anniversary with 50 Years in the Making, a celebratory gala on Monday, May 6th at 7:00 p.m. at Centaur Theatre. Hosted by CBC's Ann-Marie MacDonald and PWM's Artistic Director, Emma Tibaldo, the event will offer a glimpse into the past five decades of Playwrights' Workshop Montreal and feature staged readings of excerpts from the extensive PWM repertoire. The evening will be capped off with a reception and fundraising auction.
Thousands of Students and Teachers to Visit Westport Country Playhouse's A RAISIN IN THE SUN
Over 3,300 students and teachers from schools across Connecticut, as well as New York City and Springfield, Massachusetts, will see Lorraine Hansberry's landmark drama, "A Raisin in the Sun," directed by Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad at Westport Country Playhouse, during a series of six sold-out student matinee performances from Tuesday, October 23 through Friday, November 2. Students range from grades five through 12. As part of the Playhouse's commitment to make live theater more accessible to young people, one-quarter of the seats in the theater for every student matinee have been made available to schools that need assistance in bringing their students to the Playhouse.
