Uncanny Theatre Company to Present CROSSDRESSERS AND CRIMINALS: 3 WAYS TO LOSE YOURSELF at 2013 St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival, 6/13-23

This June, audiences can join in on a twisted group therapy session and hear confessions of three characters on the fringe of society. Presented byUncanny Theatre Company, Crossdressers and Criminals: 3 Ways to Lose Yourself, a dark and often funny collection of solo pieces, will be presented at the 23rd edition of the St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival from June 13-23. The intimate size of the Freestanding Room will create a welcoming atmosphere where the characters will reveal their tales of woe. The play is co-written by Jonathan Fournier (The Boy and the Wrapper, Miner Inconvenience) and Marie Markovic, with Markovic as director. It stars Liz Burns (Tableau D'Hote Theatre's Lion in the Streets, Featuring Loretta, Dark Owl), Tania Dos Santos (Brave New Productions' The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later) and the up-and-coming Lex Youssef.

The fabulous Lypsinka, Tony Award-winner Alan Cumming (CABARET, 'The Good Wife'), and Tony nominees Alison Fraser (SECRET GARDEN, ROMANCE/ROMANCE) and Andrew Rannells (BOOK OF MORMON) all made appearances at Abingdon Theatre Company's 19th Annual Benefit Gala yesterday, October 24 at Espace, honoring Charles Busch, Julie Halston and Timothy P. Speiss. Beth Leavel, a Tony winner for THE DROWSY CHAPERONE emceed the gala. Carl Andress, who helmed Busch's THE DIVINE SISTER, THE THIRD STORY, DIE MOMMIE DIE! and SHANGHAI MOON, directed.

Lauded for last season's ambitious Suburban Motel Series by George F. Walker, Tableau D'Hôte Theatre is proud to present the Quebec premiere of Dark Owl by Laval Goupil, translated by Glen Nichols and directed by Jessica Abdallah. Dark Owl, staged at MainLine Theatre from Nov. 16-28, will enthrall audiences with its theatrically beautiful and tragic story of an Acadian family striving to break away from a haunting past that has isolated them in the centre of a gossip-infested community.
