BWW Review: Theatre En Bloc's NEVA is Must-See Theatre
NEVA is the latest offering from Austin's Theatre En Bloc. Written by Chilean playwright, Guillermo Calderon, this politically charged play is a brutally honest and timely look at the precarious relationship between art, politics, and social justice. Set in Russia at the dawn of the revolution, this explosive production raises more questions than it answers with ferocity and biting humor.
BWW Review: Beckham and Joplin Deliver First-Rate Performances in LUNGS
LUNGS is a 2011 play by Duncan MacMillan that is a wickedly funny, yet touching, look at the insecurities and fears of a generation for whom apprehension and precariousness are the norm. When the concept of bringing a child into the world comes up (in of all places, IKEA), W (Liz Beckham) and M (Michael Joplin) weigh all of the consequences that surround that decision: bringing a child into a world that is perhaps irretrievably screwed up, how will they offset the carbon footprint of another life on the planet, how will it change her body, their love life, and ultimately, their relationship. All of this becomes even more complicated by the fact that they are not married.

BWW Review: Pulitzer Winner CLYBOURNE PARK Takes on Gentrification
CLYBOURNE PARK is a play worthy of producing and seeing in any city that claims to be as progressive and liberal as Austin. It's a couple hours worth of good theatre by a theatre company that consistently produces excellent work. We can sit in the dark and laugh at ourselves and race relations and enjoy some theatre that is, by the way, suffering from gentrification itself.

BWW Reviews: St Edwards University Puts Modern Spin on TARTUFFE
It's astounding and a little sad that of all the things that have fallen out of style since the 1600s, hypocrisy isn't one of them. Thankfully though, comedy isn't one of them either. Both hypocrisy and comedy take center stage in St Edwards University's production of Tartuffe, an interesting and often wonderful modern take on Moliere's classic play about a deceitful religious devotee who brings chaos in his wake when he becomes a houseguest to the spiritual but foolish Orgon.
