BWW Review: Annual LIVING HISTORY TOUR Features Local Legends, Moguls, and Media Stars Resting Inside Woodlawn Cemetery

History comes alive at Woodlawn Cemetery, Mausoleum & Mortuary in Santa Monica during their Living History Tour in which costumed actors portraying noted personalities interred there share their stories and contributions to history and society. And although I had heard about the tours in previous years, last weekend was the first time I actually spent two hours on a wonderfully brilliant Saturday afternoon walking among the many souls who chose this peaceful spot as their final resting place. This year's tour featured 14 notable characters more than willing to share their life stories, often adding in many details not widely known about them.

The Thomas Mann House presents 'Together We Advance,' a program about Mann's American religion today, August 10 at 7:30 pm at the First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles, 2936 West 8th Street (near Vermont Avenue).  Mann said, 'The First Unitarian Church of Los Angeles is particularly close to my heart and mind.'  This is the first event of the newly inaugurated Thomas Mann House.

Two Who Dared: The Sharps' War, a documentary film that was ten years in the making, is being released through a grassroots effort at churches, synagogues and theaters worldwide and will premiere at the Boston International Film Festival. TWO WHO DARED tells the story of a Unitarian minister, Waitstill Sharp and his wife Martha who, just days prior to the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia, left their young children in Wellesley, Massachusetts to help save thousands being persecuted in Eastern Europe. Who were these American heroes? What drove their willingness to put the wellbeing of strangers over that of themselves and their family? What would you dare to do in order to help just one other person?
