Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts is launching an ambitious undertaking to work with local community members and stakeholders across New York City to reimagine the Amsterdam Avenue side of its campus.

NYC Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, today joined Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer, Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal, Manhattan Community Board 7 Chair Elizabeth Caputo, John Herrold, Riverside Park Administrator / President, Riverside Park Conservancy and community members to cut the ribbon on the newly reconstructed 79th Street Boat Basin A-Dock in Riverside Park, Manhattan. A-Dock had been closed for several years due to substructure piling deterioration and Superstorm Sandy incurred damage. The restored 370-foot fixed pier is now re-opened to the public. Angela Lansbury Hosts NYC Seniors Community Survey Project

On Friday, October 21, 2011, Angela Lansbury; New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn; New York City Council Member Gale Brewer; Assembly Member Linda Rosenthal; Assembly Member Richard Gottfried; Congressman Jerrold Nadler and The Actors Fund co-hosted a kick-off event for the Seniors Community Survey, an online survey designed to better understand the quality of life of older New Yorkers in the Clinton/Hell's Kitchen and Chelsea Neighborhoods. The event, held at American Airlines Theatre, marked the beginning of the online survey of seniors 60 years and older who reside in the zip codes of 10001, 10011, 10018, 10019, 10036 on Manhattan's West Side. Findings of the survey, being conducted from mid-October through December 31, 2011, are intended to help provide information concerning seniors' needs, identify gaps in senior services and help community leaders organize and advocate for resources and services for seniors in these neighborhoods.
A.R.T./New York To Build Two New 99 Seat Theaters

The Alliance of Resident Theatres/New York (A.R.T./New York), the leadership and advocacy organization for more than 300 of New York City's not-for-profit theatres, announced today that it will construct two much-needed 99-seat theatres -- to be designed by noted architect Toshiko Mori -- at the Archstone-Clinton development located at 53rd Street and 10th Avenue in Manhattan.
