BIO

Lily Knight is an American actress with an extensive career on stage, film, and television. Born in 1946 in New York City, Knight grew up in a family of artists and performers, which inspired her to pursue acting from a young age. She attended the High School of Performing Arts in New York, where she honed her craft and developed her skills as an actress.



Knight's Broadway debut came in 1971, when she appeared in the musical "Soon." She went on to perform in several other Broadway productions, including "The Night of the Tribades," "The Great White Hope," and "The Visit." Her stage work also includes performances Off-Broadway and in regional theaters across the country.

In addition to her stage work, Knight has appeared in numerous films and television shows throughout her career. She made her film debut in 1978 in the drama "The Boys in Company C," and has since appeared in over 40 films, including "The Big Chill," "The Negotiator," and "The Dark Knight Rises." Knight has also appeared in several popular television shows, including "Law & Order," "The West Wing," and "Grey's Anatomy."

Despite her success on screen, Knight has remained committed to her work on stage. In 2013, she appeared in the Off-Broadway production of "The Explorers Club" at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Her most recent stage credit was in the 2017 Broadway revival of August Wilson's "Jitney," directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. The production received critical acclaim and was nominated for several Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play.

Knight's versatility as an actress has allowed her to tackle a wide range of roles throughout her career. She has played everything from a grieving mother in "The Big Chill" to a tough police sergeant in "NYPD Blue." Her ability to bring depth and nuance to her performances has made her a respected figure in the entertainment industry.

In addition to her work as an actress, Knight is also a teacher and mentor to young actors. She has taught at several universities and acting schools, including the Juilliard School, the Yale School of Drama, and the American Conservatory Theater. Knight is known for her generosity and willingness to share her knowledge and experience with aspiring actors.
