James Ijames and Lloyd Suh to be Honored With 2022 Steinberg Playwright Awards

The Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust has announced the names of the two outstanding early-to-mid-career playwrights who will be celebrated with 2022 Steinberg Playwright Awards in the amount of $100,000 each. This year’s recipients of the “Mimi” Awards are James Ijames and Lloyd Suh.

On October 25th, Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) and Ma-Yi Theater Company presented an excerpt from Lloyd Suh's new play The Chinese Lady, which begins performances on Theatre Row on November 7 and will play a limited run through November 18, 2018. Pan Asian Repertory, the East Coast's premiere producer of Asian-American theatre, will celebrate its 35th Anniversary with a Gala event, "Legacy and Homecoming," on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Edison Ballroom (240 W 47th Street) in Manhattan's theater district. The evening will be hosted by Broadway performer Raul Aranas (Miss Saigon) and comedian Stephen Park ("In Living Color"), and will honor actor Daniel Dae Kim (alum from Pan Asian Rep's 1993 production of A Doll's House and star of TV's "Hawaii Five-O" and "Lost," as well as the Academy Award-winning film Crash) and research scientist Dr. Patricia E Taylor.

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, the East Coast's largest producer of Asian-American theatre, has announced it's 35th season which will include a newly re-envisioned production of one of their most successful original musicals, a world premiere of a new play, two new productions showcasing the talents of veteran Asian American artists and a developmental reading series of three new plays focusing on multi-cultural themes.
