On Sunday, March 25th at 7:30pm, Persisticon presents an evening of comedy, music, and pitchfork-waving to benefit EMILY'S List, an organization committed to electing progressive, pro-choice women, and equalizing the representation of all genders in government. Performers include Phoebe Robinson, Angie Pontani, Aparna Nancherla, Bridget Everett, Jaclyn Friedman, Jo Firestone, Jon Glaser, Murray Hill, Negin Farsad, Ophira Eisenberg, Sally Kohn and more to be announced. VIP seating is sold out, but standing room tickets can be purchased for $50. Additional donations are also gladly accepted.
Phoenix Art Museum Presents WILLIAM H. JOHNSON: AN AMERICAN MODERN, 4/19-7/13
An exhibition from the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES) arrives at Phoenix Art Museum and will feature rare paintings by William H. Johnson, from the collection of the James E. Lewis Museum at Morgan State University. An essential figure in modern American art, William H. Johnson (1901-1970) was a virtuoso skilled in various media and techniques, and produced thousands of works over a career that spanned decades, continents, and genres.
Howard County Center for the Arts Seeks Artists for ART MARYLAND 2012
The Howard County Center for the Arts, a 27,000 square foot community facility located in Ellicott City, Maryland, is seeking proposals from artists for Art Maryland 2012, a biennial multi-media juried exhibit. The juror for Art Maryland 2012 is Philippa Hughes, Founder and Chief Contrarian of The Pink Line Project. A minimum of $1,000 will be awarded by the juror. The exhibit will be on view from October 26 - December 14, 2012 with a reception and remarks by Ms. Hughes on October 26 from 6-8pm.
