Stephen Powell's A STOPPING PLACE Set for Planet Connections Theatre Festivity
?Planet Connections Theatre Festivity is pleased to announce the world premiere of A Stopping Place, a new one-man show written and performed by Stephen Powell, directed by Clara Pagone, and produced by Leonie Ettinger. A Stopping Place, the first original play by Stephen Powell, brings to the stage a riveting exploration of the lasting effects that trauma inflicts on the individual, told through the personal meditations of a lone, anonymous character. A Stopping Place benefits MCCNY Homeless Youth Services supporting New York City's young LGBT population in crisis.
THE (NEW) TRIAL Begins Tonight at TNC's Dream Up Festival
After the huge success of Marat/Sade, an experimental play by the celebrated German playwright Peter Weiss (Tony Award and New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Broadway production in 1965), a newly formed international theatre ensemble, directed and led by Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li, Artistic Associate of The Living Theatre, will bring Weiss's last play The New Trial to life.
THE (NEW) TRIAL to Run 9/1-6 at Theater for the New City
After the huge success of Marat/Sade, an experimental play by the celebrated German playwright Peter Weiss (Tony Award and New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Broadway production in 1965), a newly formed international theatre ensemble, directed and led by Dennis Yueh-Yeh Li, Artistic Associate of The Living Theatre, will bring Weiss's last play The New Trial to life. With an original adaptation, titled The (New) Trial, the production is intended as an homage that celebrates Weiss's 100th birthday and his theatrical legacy. The adaptation will be presented in the genre of experimental theatre in English and German, attempting to re-introduce Weiss's aesthetics and German post-war theatre to American audiences. The (New) Trial is partially funded by the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan, and made possible by Label Gray and The Living Theatre.
Site-Specific Reading of THE PLANTATION Set for Governors Island This Weekend
The Plantation Project, under the direction of Claire Beckman (co-founder of Brooklyn's Brave New World Rep) presents an inaugural, site-specific staged reading of The Plantation, Beckman's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard. This immersive production on-book will feature costumes, live music and an Equity cast.

NYU's KNOWLEDGE CARNIVAL Set for Today
Independent Curators International (ICI), Pratt Manhattan Gallery, and Franklin Furnace will present Knowledge Carnival, a series of student performances developed in Professor Karen Finley's class titled Creative Response: Performance Matters, held at the Department of Art and Public Policy, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Martha Wilson, founding director of Franklin Furnace, invited the burgeoning artists to present their work at Pratt Manhattan Gallery after visiting the class in fall 2014. Curated by Leonie Ettinger, the programming is inspired by Wilson's body of work and the myriad experimental performances embedded in Franklin Furnace's history.
