Step Africa!'s DRUMFOLK Will Bring Inspired Music & Dance to New Victory

Step Afrika! returns with its newest production, Drumfolk, based on historical events that took place during the 1700s in the Deep South. Building upon the success of The Migration: Reflections on Jacob Lawrence (New Victory 2017), Step Afrika! takes audiences on a journey from the 18th century to present-day America, where body percussion has shaped such modern art forms as hip hop and African American social dance, among others. Drumfolk runs at New Victory from February 28 - March 15, 2020, as part of the production's 10-city tour across the U.S.
DSW Reopens In Lawrence, NY After Rebuilding From Hurricane Sandy

DSW Inc., a leading branded footwear and accessories retailer, has reopened its store in Lawrence, New York after extensive renovations in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Although many DSW stores in the path of Hurricane Sandy closed temporarily, the Lawrence store sustained significant damage, which necessitated repairs that took over a month to complete. The 18,000-plus square foot store, located at 345 Rockaway Turnpike, originally opened in November 2011.

Dolly Parton wrote the music and lyrics for the stage version, which includes 'Around Here,' 'Backwoods Barbie,' 'Get Out and Stay Out,' and the signature song, '9 to 5.' Based on the book by Patricia Resnick, this is a hilarious comedy about friendship and workplace vengeance.
