COCONUT CAKE Comes to Westcoast Black Theatre This Summer
For the first time since 2018, Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will offer a summer show. The comedy, “Coconut Cake,” was written by Melda Beaty and recognized with the Sylvia Sprinkle-Hamlin Rolling World Premiere Award at the National (now International) Black Theatre Festival in 2022.

Woodie King Jr.’s New Federal Theatre will stream the World Premiere of Gong Lum's Legacy, written by Charles L. White and directed by Elizabeth Van Dyke, June 20-26. This special streaming presentation was pre-recorded from performances at Theatre at St. Clements in April 2022.

BWW Review: Short North Stage Swings for FENCES and Delivers
The Short North Stage production crews built another extraordinary set for its production of August Wilson's FENCES - a ramshackle brick house proudly kept by Troy (Mujahid Abdul-Rashid) and Rose Maxson (Rita Gregory) in somewhere, Middle America. But it was a simple prop, a cloth baseball suspended by a nylon rope off an artificial tree that provided the perfect analogy for the performance.
