Orange is the New Black mainstay cast member Todd Susman, who plays Harold Bloom, father of series lead Larry Biggs in the Netflix hit, helms the casting of this new drama along with Tony Award nominee Jonathan C. Kaplan, (Falsettos, The Diary of Anne Frank), Opera icon Lawrence Craig (Baz Luhrmann's La Boheme) at Abrons Art Center, 466 Grand St, New York, NY 10002, on Monday, June 15 at 5:30pm.

New Jersey State Opera will presents its 75th anniversary production of PORGY AND BESS at the Newark Symphony Hall on Sunday, May 23 at 3pm. Gregg Baker and Laquita Mitchell will star in the show which will be directed by Jonathan Eaton with the 55-piece orchestra being conducted by Jason C. Tramm.

The production, also celebrating a famous 75th Anniversary, is a brave American classic bridging the gap between Broadway and opera. The clever love story between characters Porgy and Bess explodes with a fiery tempo, amid George and Ira Gershwin's distinguished style featuring jazz, Broadway, and opera. Porgy and Bess is based on DuBose Heyward's novel Porgy and the play of the same name he co-wrote with his wife Dorothy Heyward, which focuses on African-American life in the early 1920s in Catfish Row located in Charleston, South Carolina.
