Photo Flash: Match: Lit Faces The Music With William Shakespeare's AS YOU LIKE IT
This February, rising indie Shakespeare company Match: Lit brings to its audience one of William Shakespeare's best-loved comedies in As You Like It. The production is directed by Laurel Andersen (Barefoot Shakespeare, Occupy Verona, Turn To Flesh Productions) and is produced by Match: Lit's Executive Artistic Director, Kristin Sgarro, who also serves as the production's composer and musical director. The production will open Thursday, February 13 and close Sunday, February 23.

Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolve into a powerful but complicate love story. Once runs September 5 - 16 at the Kennedy Theatre in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Just last night, Tectonic Theater Project celebrated Tectonic At 25!, a benefit performance celebrating 25 years of groundbreaking theater. The star-studded evening, directed by Tectonic Theater Project founder Moises Kaufman and hosted by and starring two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda, took place at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place, New York, NY 10012).

Tectonic Theater Project, the award-winning theater company whose works include Tony winners 33 Variations, I am My Own Wife, The Laramie Project, and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, announced today that Lauren Wainwright has been named its new Executive Director. Wainwright is currently the Managing Producer of The Foundry Theatre and will assume her full-time duties at Tectonic on May 6, 2015.

The Araca Group has announced the seven shows that will comprise the 2014 Araca Project season, lasting from September 7th until November 2nd at the American Theatre of Actors. Led by Matthew Rego, Michael Rego, and Hank Unger, The Araca Group is a New York City-based Broadway production and merchandising that has served, among others, Wicked, Urinetown, Rock of Ages, Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. THE LOWER DEPTHS Opens This Week at The Producers' Club
'The Lower Depths' by Maxim Gorky is a powerful classical Russian play about a group of hilarious, downtrodden lodgers in a boarding house. Their lives consist of staving away hunger and poverty mixed with idle entertainment until a pilgrim, Luka, arrives on the scene. Luka brings with him tales of the world abroad as well as a seemingly bottomless supply of hope and dreams. He inspires the residents of the boarding house to reach and try to pick themselves up from the dregs of society, while teaching love and respect and responsibility. However, charged with the fire Luka kindles in them, the muck at The Lower Depths begins to stir, and the result is not as positive as Luka had hoped.
