Laura Peete (LP) is a Telly award-winning director, line producer, and arts educator with over 10 years of experience in the performing arts industry. Her professional experience ranges from producing, directing, programming, managing shows and events, workshops, and projects both in content development, financial and season planning, as well as logistical operations. LP currently serves as the Artistic Line Producer for Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) in Houston, overseeing self produced shows/booked tours, working as second in command to TUTS Artistic Director/Tony Nominated choreographer Dan Knechtges. Additionally, LP oversees casting for Theatre Under The Stars; recent projects include Sweeney Todd directed by Dan Knechtges, Cinderella directed by Eboni Bell Darcy, and Rent directed by Ty DeFoe and music directed by Charlie Alterman, all performed/performing at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in 2023.
Prior to this, LP served as the Director of Education Programs, programming the educational season at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in Orlando, FL from 2017-2021 and Spotlight Youth Theater in Chicago, IL from 2015-2017. LP holds a BM from Millikin University, with a MEd from DePaul University.
Laura has developed Broadway engagement opportunities for over 500,000 students and artists through performance and non-performance-based programming, productions, masterclasses, residencies, projects, and workshops collaborating with industry leading partners such as Disney Theatrical Group, Broadway Across America, Broadway League, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Public Works, Step Afrika, Pilobolus, Second City, and more to create equitable opportunity. Laura's expertise in industry standards, expectations, and trends has guided high school students to earn spots in the country’s leading top musical theater programs such as Carnegie Mellon University, University of Michigan, Boston Conservatory, Julliard, NYU Tisch, Berklee School of Music, Shenandoah, Penn State University, Elon University, Pace University, and many more. Laura's students can be found on Broadway, Film, Television, national tours, and international cruise lines.
