THE STONE WITCH to Play Final Performance Off-Broadway April 29th
Producers Darlene Kaplan, Laura Janik Cronin and Scott Newsome, in association with Alec Seymour, SPF Group and Susanne Adamski, announced today that The Stone Witch, a play by Shem Bitterman (A Death in Colombia, Influence) will end its run at The Westside Theatre - Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues) after the matinee performance on Sunday, April 29, 2018. When it closes, it will have played 15 preview performances and 41 regular performances. Performances began Monday, March 12, 2018 for an open-ended engagement. Opening Night was Sunday evening, March 25, 2018.

Very rarely do you hear of new ways to invest in, or contribute to, the theater. Something surprised me recently however--on the website for the off-Broadway commercial production of THE STONE WITCH, you can make a tax deductible donation to the Berkshire Theatre Group (BTG) and have the money go to THE STONE WITCH. According to producers Laura Janik Cronin and Darlene Kaplan, the money goes not to increase BTG's share of the profits, but rather to keep the show afloat.

THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEAVEN, a new play by best-selling author Laura Pedersen, directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser is now playing Off-Broadway the Cherry Lane Studio Theatre (38 Commerce Street, Manhattan). Presented by The VH Theatrical Development Foundation, THE BRIGHTNESS OF HEAVEN began performances on October 16th and opened on October 26th. The producers of the highly anticipated production of Tennessee Williams' The Two-Character Play, uniting the talents of Tony Award winner Amanda Plummer (Agnes of God, Pulp Fiction) and Academy Award nominee Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), directed by Gene David Kirk, which began previews at New World Stages(340 West 50th Street) on June 13, announced today that due to an injury sustained by Ms. Plummer, this weekend's preview performances were cancelled and that this evening's performance has been cancelled, as well. However, the show will open on Wednesday evening, June 19, as previously announced.

Opening Night is set for June 19 at 8:00 p.m. Equal parts Southern Gothic thriller, black comedy and psychological drama, the work, written during a time of great personal strife, is abstractly based on Williams' close yet complicated relationship with his sister, Rose.
