Seattle Theatre Legends Collaborate on Pulitzer Prize-Winning Classic THE GIN GAME

Snappy dialogue and quick wit crackle in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play that was called the closest thing the theatre offers to a duel at 10 paces by The New York Times. A collaboration between local Seattle theatre legends Jeff Steitzer (director), Kurt Beattie (Weller), andMarianne Owen (Fonsia), the story follows two strangers who enter into a seemingly harmless game of Gin Rummy. When one goes on an instant winning streak, tensions build within their friendship and the conversation starts to get personal.

Coeurage Theatre Company, LA's 'Pay What You Want' Company, has announced their next production, A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner, directed by Coeurage Artistic Director Jeremy Lelliott. There will be two preview performances on Thursday, August 15 and Friday, August 16 at 8pm, and opening is set for Saturday, August 17 at 8pm. A Bright Room Called Day will play through September 15 only at The Lost Studio on S. La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles.

Austin Pendleton to Lead Off-Broadway's THE LAST WILL

Austin Pendleton is set to play William Shakespeare in Abingdon Theatre Company's Off-Broadway premiere of Robert Brustein's THE LAST WILL, which he will also direct, beginning Friday, April 5 in the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). Brustein's final installment of his trilogy examining the life of William Shakespeare, THE LAST WILL is set to open on April 17, with performances through May 5. OBIE Award-winner Austin Pendleton replaces actor Peter Cameron who has left the production.

THE TROUBLE WITH WORDS is a song cycle that explores the relationship people have with words, as well as with each other, as they struggle to connect. In examining how human beings are brought together and pulled apart by words, the songs range from devastating to laugh-out-loud funny. I strongly encourage every musical theatre aficionado in Los Angeles to see this show as I cannot offer enough praise for the entire production.
