BWW Review: MASTER CLASS at Garry Marshall Theatre, or What Becomes a Legend Most?
In 1970, Maria Callas posed for Blackglama's iconic What Becomes a Legend Most ad campaign. The famous black and white Richard Avedon photographs shot against a simple gray background captured the glamour and allure of black mink featuring some of the most iconic faces in the world. It was indeed a look, and Callas knew it was for her.

BWW Review: First Run Theater's Engaging TRICK AND ANOTONIA
I did some creative work for First Run Theater during their early years, underscoring some shows, and even directing a couple of one acts. I admired the fact that they provided a testing ground, a full staging, of works by local playwrights. That's an opportunity that goes far beyond a staged reading, and actually brings an author's vision to life with an immediacy that's filtered through the talent that presents it. I went back to a theater I hadn't stepped a foot in in years, and saw what I think is one their finest productions, TRICK AND ANOTONIA, written by Jenn Ciavarella. Although it could still use a bit of tightening, its a compelling tale, the actors all do solid work, and Landon Shaw's direction and scenic design is very thoughtfully conceived and executed.
BWW Reviews: R-S Theatrics Presents Entertaining Production of AUTOBAHN
It seems like productions of prolific playwright and filmmaker Neil Labute's works have been presented everywhere the past couple of years, and another is currently being presented by R-S Theatrics, formerly known as Soundstage Productions, in their current home in the Crestwood Mall ArtSpace. AUTOBAHN is a seven play cycle where all the scenes take place in the front seat of a car between two individuals. It's an often hilarious work that presents a variety of situations, despite the fact that the setting is always the same. Four directors and seven actors collaborate to bring these pieces to life, and it makes for an enjoyable evening of theatre.
REVIEW: UNBEATABLE! Opens at the Playhouse at Westport Plaza
Based on Laurie Frey's own experience dealing with the physical ravages of stage three breast cancer, UNBEATABLE! attempts to put a musical spin on her story, providing viewers with a unique interpretation of Frey's struggle to overcome this deadly disease. The most appreciative audience for this material may well be cancer survivors and the extended families of anyone who's ever been touched by this terrible illness.
