Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices (BIV) are welcomed back to First Corinthian Baptist Church for their holiday concert, HOW GREAT OUR JOY, on Monday December 14th at 7:00pm. The concert will feature music from their upcoming album Great Joy II: Around the World, with members from such shows as: HAMILTON, ON YOUR FEET!, THE LION KING, THE COLOR PURPLE, BOOK OF MORMON, FUN HOME, KINKY BOOTS and ALADDIN.

Last night's Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's ODETTA premiere performance was star studded with guests including Harry Belafonte, Laverne Cox, Jessye Norman, Carmen de Lavallade,Bevy Smith, Suzanne Vega, Ruben Santiago Hudson, Michela Angela Davis, Khalil Kain, Rochelle Aytes, Pastors Michael A Walrond Jr., and Reverend LaKeesha Waldrond attending the world premiere of Matthew Rushing's. Fittingly, ODETTA, which celebrates the legendary singer known as the "voice of the Civil Rights Movement." premiered on National Human Rights Day. Broadway Inspirational Voices(BIV), under the direction of Michael McElroy (TONY Award Nominee, Big River) will be the guest choir at First Corinthian Baptist Church Palm Sunday services April 13th, 2014. BIV features members from Motown: The musical, The Lion King, Wicked, Spider-Man, The Book of Mormon, Annie, Kinky Boots, After Midnight and more.

La MaMa presents The Movement Theatre Company (back in the club space for a limited engagement of Hope Speaks. Hope Speaks is a devised story telling piece created by Hope Speaks ensemble [Chanel Carroll, Cherrye J. Davis, Eric Lockley, Jonathan McCrory, Kimberly Young, and Kisa Willis.] and directed/conceived by Jonathan McCrory. This play was developed through TMTC's Ladder Series in 2010 and since then it has toured in Washington, DC and Baltimore, MD and is excited to be presented in the lower east side before it heads back on the road.
