Casting has been announced for the return ofAmerican Conservatory Theater's (A.C.T.) acclaimed theatrical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's international best-selling novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns-performing at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater for a limited two-week engagement July 17-29, 2018 as part of a West Coast tour that includes runs at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre and Seattle Repertory Theatre. Set amid the war-torn streets of modern-day Kabul, A Thousand Splendid Suns is the epic story of three generations of Afghan women bound together by marriage, family, and a secret past. Strong-willed Laila, unmarried and pregnant, is forced to marry her older neighbor when her family and home are torn apart.

PlayGround and Noise Pop present the July 8-30 premiere (Previews July 6 & 7) of  Vignettes On Love, a new multi-media play based on original writings by David Steele, with the play co-written by Steele, Victoria Chong Der and Davern Wright. Vignettes On Love is a comi-drama that strips raw the sexualy and ideology of six San Franciscans by exploring their intersecting lives as they struggle with love, betrayal, and self-destructive tendencies in this fast-paced dark comedic drama. Sometimes love stings.

Cutting Ball presents HEDDA GABLER This January

Two years after his Bay Area debut directing Cutting Ball's explosive production of Ubu Roi, Yury Urnov returns this winter to tackle Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece, Hedda Gabler, translated by Paul Walsh. Featured in the title role is Britney Frazier, who last performed at Cutting Ball in Superheroes in 2014. Hedda Gabler opens in previews on January 19 and runs through February 26, 2017. Opening night is scheduled for Saturday, January 21 at 8 p.m. The press opening will take place the following Monday, January 23 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 - $45, and may be purchased online at cuttingball.com/productions/hedda-gabler or by phone at 415-525-1205.

In this juicy denunciation of the mainstream media machine, struggling writer Gamal hates the way his fellow Arab-Americans represent their culture on American media. It's easy enough to take out his frustration on literature superstar Mohsen and local mosque leader, Sheikh Alfani. But when his own girlfriend and novelist Noor gets an offer from a major publisher backed with a national media campaign, how will Gamal manage his frustration? Our Enemies runs October 28-November 20, 2016 at the Thick House (1695 18th Street, San Francisco) and performs Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm.
