Retro Productions will present a live benefit reading of The Man Who Came to Dinner by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman on Friday, February 26th at 7pm EST. Proceeds from the 'pay-what-you-will' fundraiser will help fund future Retro productions. The reading is directed by Sara Thigpen and will be presented over Zoom.
Carnival Girls Productions To Present The World Premiere Of THE MAGAZINE
Critically acclaimed playwright Christie Perfetti Williams's new play, THE MAGAZINE, will have its World Premiere at The Chain Theatre in Midtown Manhattan. The timely drama which is mixed with comedy will have a limited run, April 2 - 11. Opening night is slated for Thursday, April 2. Williams's recent New York City productions include The Werewolf of Washing Heights (Carnival Girls Productions) and An Appeal to the Woman of the House (Retro Productions).
Mac Rogers' MUSICAL CHAIRS To Premiere at The Brick In October
Gideon Productions, the company behind the multiple New York Times Critic's Pick The Honeycomb Trilogy, will present the New York Premiere of playwright Mac Rogers' award-winning (Critic's Pick at the Cincy Fringe Festival) drama MUSICAL CHAIRS, October 19-27 at The Brick (579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn). Performances will be on Friday, October 19 at 9:30pm, Saturday, October 20 at 9;30pm, Friday, October 26 at 9:30pm, and Saturday, October 27 at 9:30pm. The Instigators follow up their acclaimed 2016 revival of Odets's Golden Boy with an immersive and intimate staging of Chekhov's THE SEAGULL. Lillian Meredith (Golden Boy) directs this imaginative, daring production using an agile and spirited adaptation of the text by Fergus Scully and Taylor Petracek, accompanied by a live soundscape that blends actor-created sound effects with original music composed by Sylvana Joyce. Performances run through June 18 at Access Theater. The production will be a precursor to a new indie film version of the play set to begin shooting in mid June with the same actors, incorporating elements of the live staging. Award-winning Retro Productions, under the Artistic Direction of Heather E. Cunningham, will present the critically acclaimed play, And Miss Reardon Drinks A Little. The production runs May 5th through May 20th at the Gene Frankel Theatre. Shay Gines, a Founding Executive Director of the New York Innovative Theatre Awards, directs. This is the 50th anniversary of And Miss Reardon Drinks A Little. The play was originally produced in Los Angles in 1967, and in 1971 the comedy opened on Broadway at the Morosco Theatre.
