An Evening With Michael Mina Showcases Hawaii Creations
The MINA Group invites guests to finish Grand L?nai Restaurant Week by spending an evening with Restauranteur and James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Mina as he personally walks them through his three current Hawai?i creations: STRIPSTEAK Waikiki, The Street Food Hall by Michael Mina and MINA's Fish House. The experience begins with a reception hosted at 5:30 PM at STRIPSTEAK Waikiki located on the Grand L?nai of International Market Place. Reception small bites will feature items from Little Lafa, Nana Lu, International Smoke and more, while indulging in the infamous "If Can, Can" Signature Cocktail from Kai Poke, all from The Street Food Hall by Michael Mina. The four-course seated dinner beings promptly at 6:00 PM with a Michael Mina signature dish and continues to feature MINA's Fish House and STRIPSTEAK centric courses expertly paired with distinctive wine selections by the sommelier team.
Les Dames D'Escoffier Announces Chefs Vivian Howard And Ed Kenney in ROOTS RUN DEEP Fundraiser
Les Dames d'Escoffier Hawaii Chapter is holding its annual fundraiser, "Roots Run Deep" on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Mari's Gardens to benefit their "Dames who Donate" Scholarship Fund. Chef Vivian Howard was last year's James Beard Award winner for Outstanding Personality/Host for her work in PBS' popular show 'A Chef's Life,' and is a four-time James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef in America: Southeast. Vivian, a Dame herself, will be joined by local Chef Ed Kenney, who hosts his own Emmy Award winning PBS show, "Family Ingredients." Ed is also a four-time James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef in America: West. The evening will feature Kenney and Howard alongside some of the members of the Hawaii chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier, including Lee Anne Wong, Michelle Karr-Ueoka, Jackie Lau, Maria Short and Abigail Langlas among many others.

The controversial and sometimes tumultuous relationship between former Beatle John Lennon and avant-garde artist Yoko Ono is the focus of the new musical play "Rock & Roll's Greatest Lovers" opening at 3:45 p.m. June 7 at the Lillian Theatre, 1076 Lillian Way in Hollywood as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
