Amber Ruffin's BIGFOOT, THE MUSICAL Premieres At Majestic
Majestic Repertory Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of Bigfoot, The Musical by Amber Ruffin (Late Night with Seth Myers and Comedy Central's Drunk History), Kevin Sciretta (iO Chicago), and David Schmoll (The Second City). The musical comedy offers the origination story of America's most famous mythological creature. It is directed by Troy Heard (Awarded Best Director by Desert Companion Magazine, 2012, 2014 & 2018 and Las Vegas Review-Journal, 2012) and will run at Majestic Repertory Theatre, June 28 - July 15, 2018. Award Winning Majestic Rep Announces 2018-19 Season
Majestic Repertory Theatre's artistic director Troy Heard announced the company's 2018-19 season today. Featuring seven productions in the MainStage lineup and two productions in the Backstage series, the season includes the world premiere of Amber Ruffin's ("Late Night with Seth Meyers") musical Bigfoot; the regional premiere of Rachel Bykowski's high school football drama Tight End; a full-scale immersive adaptation of Shakespeare's dark comedy Measure for Measure set in 1970s Las Vegas; the Las Vegas premiere of Lucas Hnath's mind (and tongue) twisting A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay about the Death of Walt Disney; intimate new stagings of the classic musical Cabaret, the adolescent angst rock musical Spring Awakening and Thornton WIlder's Our Town; the Vegas premiere of Matthew Lopez's Elvis-meets-drag queens comedy The Legend of Georgia McBride; and the world premiere of Heard's "Tales from the Crypt" tinged holiday thriller Krampus.
Dance for Life Raises $233,000 at Annual Gala
Chicago Dancers United (CDU), which mobilizes Chicago's dance community by raising funds through dance, welcomed nearly 2,300 guests at the 26th annual Dance for Life Chicago performance August 19 at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Congress Pkwy. Approximately 600 guests attended a pre-performance gala reception at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue. From a combination of ticket sales, sponsorships and contributions, Dance for Life Chicago raised more than $233,000 to support Chicago Dancers United's The Dancers' Fund, which provides assistance to members of the dance community coping with critical health and life issues, and the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.

BWW Reviews: One Last Night for Araca Project's ONE NIGHT ONLY at American Theatre of Actors
One Night Only, a part of the 2012 Araca Project, finishes its run today at the American Theatre of Actors (314 West 54th Street). Directed by T. J. Shanoff, One Night Only is a completely improvised musical. With music direction by Mike Descoteaux, One Night Only stars Kate Cohen, Matthew Van Colton, Katie Dufrensne, Nicole C. Hastings, Kevin Sciretta and Michael Girts. The cast creates a brand new musical each night, developed through audience suggestion, singing, dancing, rhyming, rapping and free play. All veterans of The Second City's farm system, One Night Only, uses audience suggestions to create a 60-minute musical to rival Sondheim himself.
