BIO

Kenny Personett is a choreographer and creative director best known for his work in productions of Cabaret, A Chorus Line, In The Heights, Cats, Matilda, and for his portrayal as Action in West Side Story. Additionally, he is recognized for choreography for recording artists Tech N9ne and Deborah Cox, and as the Owner/Director of Kansas City’s Empire Dance Academy, Co-Director of That’s Entertainment KC and Resident Choreographer for Creative Studios by Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Kenny began his career performing as a dancer for Busch Gardens Tampa, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Princess Cruise Lines. After relocating to Los Angeles, Kenny began extensive training through a work study program at Debbie Reynolds Dance Studio. While in Los Angeles, Kenny choreographed for the LA Choreographers Carnival and danced in the Debbie Reynolds Dance Showcase at the famed, El Portal Theatre.

A Kansas City native, Kenny received his Bachelors degree in Arts Management from William Jewell College and has since worked on productions including A Chorus Line, Cabaret, Cats, In The Heights, Hair, Oklahoma, Music of the Night, Tommy, Songs of the Great War (MTH Theater), Matilda (Theatre Squared), Action in West Side Story (Spinning Tree Theater), Mamma Mia, Chicago (New Theater), Freaky Friday (A Disney Pilot Production), Moulin Rouge and Titanic (Corvino Supper Club). Kenny has also choreographed numerous live events, including the Girls Gotta Eat National Tour, back up dancers for Broadway star and recording artist Deborah Cox and Music Videos for Tech N9ne’s Yeah No, Closer Now by Joey Cool, King ISO and K.A.A.N., Krizz Kalico’s You, JL’s Petty Bop and Hair Like Lemons by Joseph and the Wanderlust Revival. Film and Television credits include Jesus Was A Moonwalker, Sunkist Soda, Boost Mobile and more.

Kenny's versatile work includes theater, television, film, music videos, documentaries, live events and more. Awards include "Best Choreographer", "Best Actor", and “Best Dance Company” by The Pitch KC, as well as “Best Choreographer” from Broadway World for his work on Cats and “Best Choreographer” nominee for his work on Hair.
