BWW Preview: FUN HOME Draws you Close with Music and Pride at Terrific New Theatre

'Fun Home.' Based on the 2006 graphic novel / memoir by Allison Bechdel. The story draws you in as if you are turning the pages of the comic book of Alison life. 'Fun Home' is the first Broadway musical with a lesbian as the lead of the story. Her journey though life is told through a sequence of non-linear vignettes. Revealing memories of her uniquely dysfunctional family that connect with her in surprising new ways.
Terrific New Theatre Makes Last-Minute Change To Show Opening

Due to the illness of multiple cast and crew members, Terrific New Theatre has made an eleventh-hour decision to cancel its production of "Grace & Glorie," which was scheduled to open this week. In its place, "Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years" will open Thursday, Oct. 25, and run through Nov. 4. It will be the second production of TNT's 33rd season. To fill out the canceled production's three-week run, Birmingham favorite Norton Dill - a director, musician and performer - will bring his one-man show, "… and then I Got My Uke," to the TNT stage for three performances Nov. 8-10.

Terrific New Theatre opens its 33rd season Sept. 13 with the Alabama premiere of a new musical comedy that isn't scheduled to reach Off-Broadway until October. "The Book of Merman," a send-up of the Tony Award-winning smash hit "The Book of Mormon," will run for three weekends at TNT - including two Sunday matinees - closing on Sept. 29.
