Burning Coal Returns to the Oakwood Cemetery

After a year's hiatus, Burning Coal Theatre returns to the Oakwood Cemetery with New Plays About Old Friends … and Enemies! a series of short plays drawn from the lives of Raleighians past who now populate the beautiful grounds of this historic location.

Burning Coal Theatre Presents OAKWOOD AT 150

Burning Coal Theatre honors Historic Oakwood Cemetery's 150th Anniversary Celebration with a collection of original short plays written about those who are resting peacefully or perhaps not so peacefully there. Every spring, Burning Coal Theatre teams up with Historic Oakwood Cemetery to produce a new series of plays on the historic site and its occupants. This year, the plays feature notable figures like Sophia Partridge, Henry Seawell, Bobby Crocker, Asa Forest, William Edward Anderson, Dr. E. Burke Haywood and Jonathan Worth; commemorating the full scope of the cemetery's 150-year history.
Audition Notice: THE FULL MONTY at the CHARLESTON LIGHT OPERA GUILD THEATRE

Auditions for Charleston Light Opera Guild's The Fully Monty are set for early April. The ten-time Tony Award nominated show, based on the hit film of the same name, will take place at the Charleston Civic Center Little Theatre this June as part of FestivALL 2018. The Full Monty features a book written by Terrance McNally, with music and lyrics by David Yazbek.
Burning Coal Theatre Company presents OAKWOOD LIVES 2017: IMMIGRANT! at the Oakwood Cemetary in May

Burning Coal Theatre Company will present their regular Oakwood 'cemetery full of life!' plays in May, this year highlighting notable immigrants and their contributions to the Raleigh community. Directed by George Jack of St. Augustine's University, the plays will run May 19-21, 2017 at the Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave, Raleigh NC. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 6:30pm, Sundaywill be at 2pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets will be sold on the day of the performance or can be purchased by phone at 919.834.4001. Further information can be found at www.burningcoal.org. Parking will be available inside the cemetery.
