Ken Foody was born in Pompton Plains, NJ and spent his early childhood in a rigorous private education. He began acting during kindergarten at the age of 5 as the "peanut butter and jelly sandwich holder" in his tiny school's yearly musical and right away his comic skills and timing were apparent. In a simple music number all of the kindergarteners were lined up on the front of the stage and as part of a song meant to teach how to be generous and share whatever you're blessed with no matter how small, the kids passed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich down the line interacting with the kids on their left saying "thank you so much " when they were given the sandwich and then the kids on their right saying "here you need this more than I do." It was very sweet! Then as the last child was handed the sandwich (yup you guessed it, it was Ken) he said "thank you" then turned to his right, saw no one else on stage but down below the stage was the nice elderly lady playing the piano for the show - some 15-20 feet away. He looked at her, looked back at the audience, shrugged his shoulders and like a New York Yankees Short Stop gunning a baseball to 1st to get a speedy runner out, he wound up and rocketed the sandwich right at the pianist, striking her square in the face! The audience fell out of their seats laughing, every kid on the stage burst out laughing, but ever the professional staying in character, he just looked straight ahead into the stage lights waiting for the show to continue.
Over the years he performed in 12 productions in just his elementary school, starring in his last two as Abednego in the musical telling of the story of Shadrach, Meschach and Abednego and then as the main lead in Arch The Angel a musical about a showoff angel wanting to be recognized for his superior flying ability and leadership skills only to be appropriately humbled to the type of Angel that God would actually use in His divine plan.
