BIO
Kati Schwartz is a playwright and actor. Her original play and #metoo story, Bad People, comes out on Audible this fall. Recent stage credits include: Tribes (Le Petit Theatre – Jeff Award nominee); The Wolves (Studio Theatre – Helen Hayes Award winner); August: Osage County (The Fulton Theatre); Robin Hood (Williamstown Theatre Festival); The Door (Shadowcatcher – directed by Gaye Taylor Upchurch) and several new works with Waterwell Theatre Company, Ars Nova and Dixon Place. TV/Film includes “Deadliest Decade” (Discovery ID), “Dark Tales From Channel X”, and Dan Sallitt’s award winning feature “The Unspeakable Act.” Her original play, The Coward, won the New York New Works festival in 2017.

Paula Vogel's INDECENT Kicks Off Jewish Heritage Month At Next Stage Arts
Paula Vogel's Tony Award-winning 2015 play, Indecent, will premiere at Putney, Vermont's Next Stage Arts on the heels of AAPI Heritage Month and kicking off Jewish Heritage Month. The production is directed and choreographed by multi-hyphenate artist Ellie Handel and features the original score written and arranged by Lisa Gutkin and Aaron Halva.
Paula Vogel's Tony Award-winning 2015 play, Indecent, will premiere at Putney, Vermont's Next Stage Arts on the heels of AAPI Heritage Month and kicking off Jewish Heritage Month. She Got Off The Couch will have its New York City premiere at experimental performance venue, Dixon Place, as part of the HOT! Festival. Running since 1992 and it is the 26 year of the LGBTQ festival curated with performances featuring queer theater, dance, music, literature, puppetry, comedy. Critically acclaimed for bringing exciting new work to the stage, She Got Off the Couch is excited to be on stage on July 24th.

LEAH, THE FORSAKEN is a tale of forbidden love, treachery, and redemption from 1862. Leah, a Jewish refugee fleeing persecution in Hungary, is forbidden by law to pass the night in an Austrian town. But there she wins the love of Rudolf, a Christian citizen. When a particularly zealous persecutor convinces Rudolf she has betrayed him, he quickly renounces her. Leah retreats to her exile, but only after bestowing her and her people's curse on him and his progeny. Can there be any light in such a darkened time, and what could possibly light it?

Music and lyrics are by Michael Friedman, with a book by Alex Timbers. Directed by Alex Perez (De La Guarda, Julian and Romero, Wanderlust) and Musical Direction by Charles Santoro (NYMF: Zapata!
