Babes With Blades Theatre Company's FIGHTING WORDS FESTIVAL Will Celebrate New Works at Stage 773

Babes With Blades Theatre Company's (BWBTC) 22nd year continues with the Fighting Words Festival, Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1 at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont. The Festival, which is free and open to the public, features readings of three scripts in the development process. After each reading, the audience has an opportunity to provide feedback for the playwright and Babes With Blades. Complimentary tickets may be reserved at Stage773.com and more information is available at babeswithblades.org.

In 2019, the Shakespeare production is Othello, April 11 - May 25, 2019, directed by Mignon McPherson Stewart and fight directed by Samantha Kaufman, at The Factory Theater, 1623 W. Howard St. Preview performances are Thursday, April 11 at 8 p.m.; Friday April 12 at 8 p.m.; Saturday April 13 at 8 p.m., Sunday April 14 at 3 p.m.; Thursday April 18 at 8 p.m. and Friday, April 19 at 8 p.m. Opening Night is Saturday, April 20 at 8 p.m.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) continues its 20th Anniversary Season: "Origins" with the Chicago premiere of The Good Fight, playing at City Lit Theater, 1020 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., January 6 - February 17, 2018.  Developed in 2011 through BWBTC's Fighting Words program under the title Deeds Not Words, the play is written by Anne Bertram, executive director of Theatre Unbound, a Minneapolis/St. Paul company devoted to work by and about women. Elizabeth Lovelady, a Jeff Award-winning artist based in Chicago, directs The Good Fight, which features combat by Violence Designer Gaby Labotka with Assistant Violence Designer Almanya Narula.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) announces its 19th Season, 'Women on the Front Lines,' featuring two productions that embrace the glories and heartbreaks of battle, and explore both the personal and the larger impact of war. Opening in July, the world premiere of The Promise of a Rose Garden, by Dustin Spence, is a modern day look at female Marines attempting to pass the Infantry Officer Training Course. Then the season will continue with BWBTC's tradition of an all-female cast Shakespeare production: Henry V opens in February.
