Dayton Opera Presents Regional Premiere of Wagner's DAS RHEINGOLD, Beginning April 14

Dayton Performing Arts Alliance presents the regional premiere of Dayton Opera's original production of Das Rheingold (The Rhein Gold), the first of the four operas of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring Cycle). Das Rheingold, a brand-new production, features costumes, sets, and video projections created specifically for Dayton Opera.
Classic Stage Extends SUMMER AND SMOKE Through May 25

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Doyle, and Transport Group, under the leadership of Jack Cummings III (Artistic Director), announced today that their new co-production of Tennessee Williams' SUMMER AND SMOKE, directed by Cummings, will extend its run through Friday, May 25 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). The cast of SUMMER AND SMOKE features Glenna Brucken (Rosemary), Phillip Clark (Dr. Buchanan), Nathan Darrow (John Buchanan), Hannah Elless (Nellie Ewell), Elena Hurst (Rosa Gonzales), Marin Ireland (Alma Winemiller), Tina Johnson (Mrs. Bassett), Gerardo Rodriguez(Papa Gonzales), T. Ryder Smith (Reverend Winemiller), Ryan Spahn (Archie Kramer), Jonathan Spivey (Roger Doremus), and Barbara Walsh (Mrs. Winemiller).

BWW Review: Marin Ireland Delivers a Must-See Performance in Tennessee Williams' SUMMER AND SMOKE

Despite only three Broadway credits, Marin Ireland must be regarded as one of the absolute best actors to regularly grace New York stages during this century. Through her steady work Off-Broadway (15 productions since 2001 and playing leading roles for several of the city's major non-profits) local audiences have seen her portrayals grow from young women of the past sporting underestimated brilliance (SABINA, THE RUBY SUNRISE) to emotionally frazzled contemporary types (MAPLE & VINE, REASONS TO BE PRETTY) and struggling survivors (KILL FLOOR, IRONBOND).

Transport Group Announces 2016-17 Season: PICNIC and COME BACK, LITTLE SHEBA - William Inge in Repertory

Drama Desk and OBIE-winning Transport Group will present Picnic and Come Back, Little Sheba: William Inge in Repertory, directed by Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, two plays in rotating repertory as the centerpiece of its 2016-17 season.  Performances begin Thursday, February 23 and run through Sunday, April 23 at the Gym at Judson, 243 Thompson Street.  The opening night has been set for Sunday, March 26.

YELLOW SOUND LABEL will release the Off-Broadway cast recording of the new musical The Memory Show. The album will be available at iTunes, Amazon.com, and in stores on March 10. Originally presented in New York by Transport Group, the show has music by Zach Redler and book and lyrics by Sara Cooper with direction by Drama Desk nominee Joe Calarco. Vadim Feichtner serves as music director with orchestrations by Lynne Shankel. The Memory Show stars Leslie Kritzer (Sondheim on Sondheim, A Catered Affair) and Tony Award nominee Catherine Cox (Baby, Footloose). Transport Group, the Drama Desk and OBIE award-winning theatre company, has announced that the New York premiere of a new musical, The Memory Show, book and lyrics by Sara Cooper; music by Zach Redler; directed by Joe Calarco, will begin performances Tuesday, April 16, at 7pm at The Duke on 42nd Street, a New 42nd Street project, at 229 West 42nd Street. The Memory Show features Catherine Cox and Leslie Kritzer. Opening night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30 at 7pm.
